| Radek Baborák studied at the Prague Conservatory with Bedřich Tylšar. He has performed as a solo hornist with many renowned orchestras and conductors both in the Czech Republic and abroad, including the Czech Philharmonic as well as the philharmonic orchestras of Berlin, London, Munich, St. Petersburg, and Tokyo in addition to the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Bamberg Symphony.
He is also a passionate devotee of chamber playing, performing frequently with the Afflatus Quintet (and contributing to its First Prize in the ARD Competition in Munich) as well as with other acclaimed ensembles and renowned performers all over the world. As an orchestral player he began while still a student under the baton of Jiří Bělohlávek, and when he was only eighteen he became first hornist of the Czech Philharmonic. After two years with that orchestra he left to become first hornist of the Munich Philharmonic under James Levine, where he remained until 2000. Presently he is first hornist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. |
